The word hearkened means to listen carefully or follow someone’s instruction. The phrase observers of times refers to people who try to tell the future by watching the stars or using astrology. Diviners are those who use magic or spirits to predict what will happen.
These practices are part of the occult. They are not from God. These nations trusted in these methods instead of trusting in the Lord.
God calls these things abominations (Deuteronomy 18:12). They open the door to spiritual darkness and are condemned throughout Scripture.
