God did not want casual followers. He wanted people who truly cared about His word. Observing to do means making the commandments a daily practice. It means being intentional in how we live.
“All the statutes and judgments…”
This part shows the completeness of the command. The people were not to pick and choose which laws they liked. They were to follow all the statutes and judgments.
Statutes were the specific laws or ordinances given by God.
Judgments were the legal decisions and standards that guided justice and fairness.
Together, these represented the full legal and moral code of God’s covenant with His people.
God’s laws covered every area of life—worship, relationships, business, justice, and more. He wanted a people who lived differently from the nations around them. They were to be set apart and holy.

1. Obedience is Still Important Today
This verse reminds us that God values obedience. Just as He expected Israel to obey His commandments, He wants us to live according to His word today. While we are not under the Old Testament law, the principle remains. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
We cannot follow God halfway. He wants our whole heart. That means reading His word, understanding it, and doing what it says. It means living with purpose and honoring Him in all areas of life.
2. God’s Word is Meant to Be Followed Fully
This verse also teaches us that we must not pick and choose what parts of the Bible we want to follow. The Israelites were to obey all the statutes and judgments. Likewise, we must seek to apply all of God’s teachings.
This does not mean we will be perfect. But it does mean we must take the whole Bible seriously. We can’t ignore the parts that are difficult or uncomfortable.

We must act now. If God is calling you to obey, don’t wait. If He is convicting you to change something in your life, don’t put it off. We often think we have time. But obedience delayed is often obedience denied.
